The Big Bad Funtime Bash: Five Years of LRS

It’s that time of year again: days are getting shorter and colder, but it’s warm and bright inside the annual LRS party!

This year the party, The Big Bad Funtime Bash, celebrates our fifth anniversary. Five years of making provocative, incendiary original performance in Philadelphia. This party will celebrate our trickster spirit by indulging all things bad. Let yourself be a little naughty this year and join us on Monday, December 11th from 6-9pm at the Maas Building.

Details and tickets: Click here!

Featuring performances by Salty Brine, Isaac Oliver, Jess Conda, and the cast of “Unformed Consent.” Plus Magic Mike bartenders, deviant spiritual guides, prizes from Groundswell Greetings, KG Strong, Good King Tavern, and more. Live auction prizes include roundtrip train fare to New York City to enjoy dinner at Morimoto before seeing “The Lucky Ones” produced by Ars Nova.

All funds raised at the Big Bad Funtime Bash will support our continued development on “Unformed Consent.” Help us continue to make this timely, socially important work!

We’ll see you there!

LRS dances in FringeA-Thon

Now that the space dust from Sans Everything has settled, we’re back in the studio hard at work on a new show. To support this effort, LRS is participating in FringeArt’s community-wide dance marathon fundraising effort. This Saturday, May 20th, we’ll be at the Blue Cross River Rink dancing our “art” out. Sponsor Scott and Mason as they shake their tail feathers for Lightning Rod Special! Click the DONATE NOW button below…

HOW IT WORKS:
⚡️ For every donation we receive, LRS takes home 75% and FringeArts receives 25% to continue supporting artists like us.

⚡️ Scott and Mason will be dancing starting at 5pm. For every $50 donated, each will dance for 1 hour. Our goal is to keep them dancing for SIX HOURS.

⚡️ Want to get in on the action? Register to join our dance team HERE. Click “individual dancer” and then choose LIGHTNING ROD SPECIAL under “join a team”. Your $25 registration fee is donated to LRS and while you’re welcome to raise/donate more than that, there’s no pressure!

⚡️ Show up at BlueCross RiverRink on Saturday May 20th at 5pm. Wear yellow (like a lightning bolt) or your Lightning Rod Special tee-shirt if you’ve got one (we’ll be selling them there, too).

⚡️ Questions? Shoot us an email.

THE EVERYTHING SPECTACULAR

Starting at 6pm

Performances at 7pm

The Maas Building, 1320 N 5th Street, garden entrance

Funds raised at The Everything Spectacular will benefit the upcoming FringeArts premiere of SANS EVERYTHING, our collaboration with Strange Attractor. Maybe you caught a sneak peak at an early draft last year at the Special Strange, but after a year of development, plus a stellar Philly design team, we’ve got tricks up our sleeve.

The Everything Spectacular will feature performances by NYC Cabaret Legends Molly Pope and Erin Markey, Philly’s own Almanac, and LRS friend Alex Tartarsky (more to be announced). Plus: Silent auction! Live auction! Homecooked food and, of course, the signature Lightning Rod Special cocktail.

Live auction grand prize is a New York package with tickets to NATASHA, PIERRE & THE GREAT COMET OF 1812. Don’t miss your chance!

Party This Saturday!

It’s been almost a month since Strange Attractor descended upon Philly to make SANS EVERYTHING with us. Five days out of the week we meet in yoga studios, lecture halls, and campus black boxes to sing, stretch, play, and create. One day out of the week we meet in coffee shops and on rooftops to exchange administrative best practices, to make observations and ask questions about company working methods. On the last day we rest. Mostly.

But this week is different. This week is our last week of rehearsals in Philly before we go to New Orleans. And not only are we working on piecing together the scenes we’ve made, but we’re also planning a big party! This Saturday we invite you to join us for THE SPECIAL STRANGE, a party to fundraise for our trip to New Orleans. There will be a live brass band playing New Orleans jazz, a killer raffle (prizes to be announced soon), signature cocktails, and jambalaya made by the Sans Everything crew. And best of all, you get to be among the first to see what we’ve been making…

The Special Strange is Saturday, November 14th
7pm at the Crane Old School, 1417 N 2nd Street
$25 general admission, $15 artists/students

We can’t wait to see you there.

Halfway There!

There are 8 days left in our Hatchfund campaign to raise money for “Let the Dog See the Rabbit”. We’ve already raised over $4,000 and need $2,000 more to reach our main goal of $6,000!

If you’re interested in donating, consider doing so this Saturday, the 25th. Hatchfund will be matching all donations dollar-for-dollar that day up to $225. PLUS we’ll be honoring your donations at the next perk level. Donors at the $25 level will receive the $50 perk (the secret recipe to our signature LRS cocktail) and donors at the $100 level will not only receive two complimentary tickets but they will also receive the $250 level incentive: an invitation to an exclusive post-show reception with the LRS co-directors and cast of “Let the Dog See the Rabbit”.

We hope to see you at the show, May 13-21!

Support LRS!

On Wednesday of this month we launched a fundraising campaign on Hatchfund, the artists-only funding platform. We are seeking to raise $9,000 to close our funding gap for LET THE DOG SEE THE RABBIT. It’s an ambitious figure for an ambitious piece of theatre: we have a cast of 13 actor/dancer/creators, a 9-person production team (all 22 are from Philly!), a stunning performance space, and the gumption to pull it off.

Will you help us? Tax-deductible donations can be made on the Hatchfund page. Please consider sharing our campaign on Facebook or Twitter.

Thank you so much for your help. We look forward to sharing the final product with you in May!
